Quiet Book - 2nd Page: Egg Carton & Basket

I'm working on completing the 2nd page in my quiet book.  This page has an egg carton with eggs that velcro on.  I used iron-on velcro and it was super easy.  The eggs are numbered with puffy paint.  I also have a basket that I weaved with felt and super glued together.  I still have to sew the basket onto the page and finish sewing the egg carton on.  When it's finished, Olive can practice putting the eggs into the basket, counting them, and then put them back into the carton.  Everything is made from felt and the words and numbers are handwritten (obviously!) with puffy paint.  **Tip:  Hold a hot iron over the puffy paint once it's dried to make it "puffy"!**

Quiet Book - 1st Page: Flower Vase

Okay, so this was my first page I did for Olive's quiet book.  Sorry I don't have step-by-step pictures.  I started the blog after I had already done the page (same with page #2).  The flowers can be buttoned on and off.  The flowers and vase are felt and the stems are made from ric rac.  Everything was sewn by hand (thank you hubby for sewing most of the button holes on the flowers!).

**The idea for this page came from this mom's awesome quiet book blog.**

Let's Get Started - Quiet Book!

Alright, so my first project, I've decided to make a Quiet Book for my daughter.  If you don't know what a quiet book is, well, neither did I.  Doing some research one day, I came across the idea.  A quiet book is meant to be just that - quiet.  It's usually made of felt and other soft material.  Children can use them when they are in the car, waiting in the doctor's office, at home, anywhere they feel!  Each page usually has a learning manipulative (buttoning, counting, numbering, velcro, snaps, etc.).  So, the plan is to have the book done by Christmas.  I think that if I focus and do one page a week, I can have it done.  I've already done two pages, which I'll take pictures and post soon.  Wish me luck!
